About Us
Gravitas Care has provided therapeutic residential care for young people since 2018. We’re a small, dedicated team of clinical psychologists, registered managers, and support workers who believe that stability and genuine relationships are the foundation young people need to heal, grow, and thrive.
Focus on Young People
Ensuring the young people have a stable and nurturing environment is at the heart of everything we do.
We value each young person as an individual, respecting them and believing in their potential.
We have high yet realistic aspirations for the young people in our care and encourage and empower them to reach their full potential in every aspect of their lives.
Regulated
Our homes are deliberately small in scale, giving every resident the space, routine, and one-to-one attention that institutional settings often can’t offer.
All our homes are regulated in line with the requirements of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and in line with the Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations including the Quality Standards April 2015.
Working Together
We provide a high individualised quality of care to young people.
We know that we cannot do this on our own and need to work alongside other professionals to achieve this. We will advocate for the young people in our care and assist them to voice their opinions regarding their time in the ‘Care System’.
We will work alongside social workers, education, and health professionals and external agencies and where needed the Youth Offending Service to complete a ‘wrap around’ service for our young people. Wherever possible, family members will be fully involved with supporting this plan.
Building Positive Relationships
We believe that the building of positive relationships is characterised by shared experiences, consistency in practice and unconditional positive regard and respect. We aim to achieve this by sharing experiences with young people on activities, understanding and sharing their day to day lives, talking and listening to young people to understand their wishes and feelings.
Quality Care
This is also achieved by having good quality and understandable care plans for young people with regards to their routines, care required, health, education, contact, activities and hobbies, risks, and behaviour management that recognises and rewards positive behaviour and challenges negative and unsafe behaviour.
Building Independence
The preparation of young people to play a full and successful role in the adult world is an intrinsic part of our vision.
We will focus on developing the young people’s resilience and independent living skills. The timing of independence is dependent on the young person’s age, ability or needs. Should a young person decide to remain in the area, post 18 years, when possible we will assist them to acquire a manageable property and assist with furnishing and then withdrawing the support gradually. This will be in conjunction with the young person’s placing authority and pathway plan.
