A Safe Place To Grow
Ensuring young people have a stable and nurturing environment is at the heart of everything we do.
Every Gravitas Care home is chosen for the same reason: a genuine, homely feel in a settled, residential neighbourhood. Our homes combine warm interiors, private bedrooms, and shared spaces designed for connection — all part of a therapeutic, non-institutional approach.
We operate two homes on the outskirts of Halifax, West Yorkshire. Each home provides residential care for 2 young people aged between 7 and 17 years of age of either gender. Unfortunately, neither of our homes can accommodate young people with mobility disabilities due to the bedrooms being on the first floor.
All our homes are regulated in line with the requirements of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and in line with the Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations including the Quality Standards April 2015 and staffed by appropriately trained people who are passionate about their work and are driven to provide excellent care for our young people.
If you are a local authority or social worker looking to make a referral, or a family with questions about a placement, please get in touch with our registered manager.

Promoting Learning
Education is very high priority and is a central vision for Gravitas Care and its aspiration for the young people living with us.
We actively work in partnership with all professionals including, education social care, health professionals, voluntary agencies and families (where appropriate) to promote a more cohesive system where education is an intrinsic part of the care environment and where all key people in a young person’s life understand and actively participate in their education.

Promoting Participation
We believe that the involvement of young people in positive leisure pursuits plays a key part in residential provision and helps to promote a sense of self-worth, social integration, independence and achievement.
Promoting Health and Wellbeing
Each young person is registered with the local doctors, dentist and optician and has a health care plan designed around their individual health needs including their physical, emotional and sexual health needs.
The plan outlines identified health areas of concern or development and how positive outcomes will be achieved and measured.

Promoting Positive Relationships
We believe that the experience of the young people in residence is determined in part by the suitability of the placement for both young people.
The home works to a clear, consistent approach to managing behaviour. We use a restorative practice model, which investigates thoughts, feelings and impact on negative behaviour rather than a punitive, sanction approach.
Nurtured by Nature
Situated in the heart of the Pennine Moors we have great access to the outdoors and activities such s rock climbing, horse riding, and rambling.
